A project is the unit webMARS saves, compiles and assembles. It may contain one or more .asm/.s assembly files and Mini-C .c files.
| Command | Current behavior |
|---|---|
| New Project | Creates a blank project. Once a project is open, add C or assembly source files from the New submenu. |
| Open from Disk | Imports files selected through the browser. Multi-file selections are supported. |
| Open from Browser Storage | Restores a project saved in one of the local project slots. |
| Save Active File / Save Project | Saves the active source or the complete project into browser storage. |
| Download / Download As | Exports the active content through the browser download system. |
| Examples | Opens the curated, searchable example catalogue, grouped by language and learning goal. |
| Dump Run I/O | Downloads the current program input/output transcript for diagnosis or assessment. |
Assemble builds the selected assembly sources into a program image. Compile C0 translates the C project to MIPS assembly; the generated assembly is then assembled before execution. Multi-file C projects are linked as one translation unit by the teaching compiler.
webMARS maintains recovery data in browser storage so a reload can restore the working session. The five explicit local project slots are separate from that recovery session.
The Cloud menu is optional. Login, project open/save, synchronization and refresh communicate with the configured cloud server. Cloud use is never required for local editing, compiling or running.
